The Basics of Ad Sense

Ad Sense and Such---

How do all those web sites make enough money to stay alive? Are they just bored geeks wanting something to work on in their spare time? Sometimes they are. But a lot of the time, they get their complete income from the stupid little ads you see on the screen. When someone clicks on those stupid little ads, the webmaster receives money from the host of those ads. For ad sense, the advertiser pays a certain amount of money to Google to get their ads on peoples’ sites. Depending on how many people click on them, each click is worth a certain amount of money...from as low as 1 cent to possibly 2 dollars (I’ve heard rumors...). The latter is rare. Ad sense does not place random ads on your web site. It takes a look at what your website contains keyword wise, and puts on ads with the same keywords. To get the most out of ad sense, you must pick website content that brings up ads that are worth a lot of money (relatively). There are not magical topics that will get you rich instantly, and don’t try looking for them in other places...because they don’t exist. But there are things that bring you less money, which are plain news stories and the like. You want to choose relatively narrow bands of field, especially the more out of this world (so to speak) stuff. Like if you put something about someone getting shot, who cares? But if you put something about weirdo aliens from outer space about to attack, people will be interested, and you will get ads that aren’t on as many website, therefore not getting as many clicks. Since they don’t get as many clicks, more of the money they allocated for advertising gets to you. Plus, the average person reading your article will be interested in the subject, so they are more likely to click on the ads. Don’t go too narrow a subject though, you need to keep it good enough for search engines. Such as an article on Ad Sense...=p
